On behalf of CUPE 389, we stand in solidarity with Iranian protesters fighting for democracy, equality and just living and working conditions. As public service workers committed to serving people’s needs to strengthen our communities on the North Shore, we stand with the people of Iran as they call for their communities’ needs to be met.
We condemn the senseless violence and killing carried on by Iranian authorities against protesters, workers, and children. We demand those who are responsible for silencing these protesters be brought to justice immediately. We further affirm the Iranian people’s right to self-determination.
Our condolences go out to CUPE 389 members whose family and friends have been affected; the Persian community we live alongside; and those living in Iran and abroad.
